As far as entry level smoked drinks go, you can’t get much easier than smoked ice. This technique works well as the cold surfaces attract the smoke particles, while cubes and broken ice also have a higher surface area than liquid water. Use smoked ice in a smoky Whisky and Coke, or shake with it in place of normal ice for anything from a Smoky Martini to a smoked Margarita.
If you have a smoking gun or similar device: add ice cubes or broken ice to a large, sealable container (plastic box with lid or similar). Add smoke to the container, seal and leave to melt. Re-freeze the smoked water in the required shape and size for your drink of choice.
If you don’t have a smoker: add ice cubes or broken ice to a container. Put a heat-proof ceramic or metal dish next to the container, add the ingredient to be smoked and burn with a torch until smouldering. Cover the ice container and smouldering ingredients with a larger container to keep the smoke in. Leave until the ice has melted. Re-freeze the smoked water in the required shape and size for your drink of choice.
